Creating New Leads

We are using SFDC and we currently create an Activity History record for specific actions that a lead may take. We ran into the problem of a task/activity being created before the Lead record is created in SFDC. In that instance a Lead record is created with MKTO App as the Lead Owner.

Is there a way to always default creating a new lead record to Use Lead Assignment Rules? Even the the Sync SFDC flow step is not specified?

Are you lead assignment rules in Marketo or SFDC?  If they are in Marketo, moving them to SFDC should solve this.

Thanks Steven, they are in SFDC already. Maybe I need to take a look at defaults in SFDC?

Yes I would look at the assignment rules in SFDC.  It might be a separate cause of this
