Closed lost - how to deal with multiple opportunities?

Hey all,

Question: right now, our Closed Lost stage in our Revenue model triggers based on whether or not an Opportunity is updated and the value is Closed Lost.

But let's suppose a Contact has multiple Opportunities.  Only one is Closed Lost.  Can you suggest a filter for the Smart Campaign to filter out anyone with an Open Opportunity and a Closed Lost opportunity?

Is there any Marketo best practice around this issue?

Any thoughts appreciated!

I just tried this, so it may not be perfect, but if you use the "Has Opportunity" filter twice, then set one to a stage of "Closed Lost" and the other to every stage that could be open (the green plus makes this quick), and make sure that the filter logic is set to all. This will look for everyone who has an Opportunity with a stage of Closed Lost as well as an Opportunity that is still open.

Not pretty, but might get the job done!

Response from support (in case anyone else has this issue):

To do this you'll need to add the filter "Has Opportunity True - Is Open False." This will prevent leads with open opportunities from moving through that transition.

I usually build a Smart List, called "Has Open Opportunity". It filters out all records that are associated with an Opportunity where the Stage IS NOT "Closed Lost" or "Closed Won"

Then, in the transition for the model, you can simply trigger off of Opportunity is Updated, where Stage IS "Closed Lost", and add youf filter for Member of Smart List NOT IN "Has Open Opportunity".

This will prevent anyone who is associated with an open opportunity from going into your Lost stage.
