Checking for existing account in SFDC?

I know we can create and update a list of existing accounts in Marketo, to check against when a new lead is created (to bypass nurture, or speed up MQL, etc.) - but is there a way to check company name field against existing accounts in SFDC? I suspect the answer is no, but wanting to ensure there's no "easier" way.

Hi Naor, 

You could use the fitler "Account Last Name" -> if empty, an Account hasn't been created for the company.

You could also build SFDC workflow rules along with a custom field to mark when a company becomes an Account.
