Changing Marketo Lead email field to match Salesforce Secondary Email

Hello,

I was reading up on editing mapping(https://community.marketo.com/MarketoArticle?id=kA050000000LNRFCA4#map-unmapped-fields) and thought of something useful for organization, but am unsure on it's possibility.

Our organization gives leads a community email address after they convert to registered. We want to send out 'need to know' broadcasts to these new email addresses but because Marketo goes off the primary email field we are hitting the old lead email information.

What would be the simplest manner of editing the mapping to make this salesforce secondary email the marketo primary email (after a lead has converted).

Or would it be better to utilize the alert system some users have talked about, with custom tokens.

Thanks for any insight.

You cannot remap the email address primary field. it is used for deduping. There are some articles about this floating around.

What you may be able to do is
1. Create a dupe by reuploading the secondary email address as a primary record (not ideal). Just make sure it doesnt sync back to SFDC.
2. Try sending an Alert to that token. I haven't tried that, but it might work.
3. Vote up this idea that is also floating around somewhere.
