Changing email address in salesforce creates new record in Marketo

If a SFDC contact/lead's email address is changed in Salesforce will the Marketo sync update the email address field in Marketo or will it create a new lead in Marketo? I am concerned changing the email address in salesforce will create new lead in Marketo since email address is the unique identifier.

Marketo will update with a new email address (AFAIK) because the record is synced and tied to the SFDC ID.

The reason I expect this is because we can listne for Email Address changes, which is the action that would happen.

Just test it out and see if it works as intended!

new records in SFDC are not deduped.
