Changing Account String with company name change - is it necessary + other issues?
I'm trying to determine whether the account string in Marketo needs to be changed to match a company name change. The company I work for has merged with another company, to create a new, merged company. This means that the company name has changed and no longer matches the account string in Marketo.
We need to add new landing page domains and email link branding, but before I get IT to set up new CNAMEs that point to the current Account String, I am trying to get answers to the following questions:
1. Do we need to change the account string, i.e. is it ever visible in tracking links or landing pages?
2. If we do change the account string, will existing landing pages and emails tracking links still work?
3. What order do we perform setup steps in - i.e. do we set up the CNAMES before you change the account string or will that cause an error?
4. We know that there is a standard process to set up CNAMES the first time, but we could do with a guide for when you need to change the domain but still have existing links to landing pages work.
Obviously we have similar issues with email branding links, although I know it is easier to add additional email branding links without getting rid of the main set. However we want to rebrand these too.
Would be grateful for others' experience in this area. Marketo's answer to our queries is to push their professional services to do it for us, rather than just answer the questions. I'd prefer to get some answers and then decide whether we need to use them.
