Cannot change font size within h1 tags on Landing Pages using span?

Within the landing page rich text editor, I have added a <span> to the <h1> element in an attempt to resize just our trademark symbol within the header. The rich text editor appears to show the change, but on the page itself there are no size changes to the &trade; symbol.

Has anyone else encountered this? Are there any workarounds?

<span> tags within <h1> are now working, with no changes on our part. Landing page may have just been taking a long time to load. Please disregard the question!
