Can you use Content Recommendation Engine for products?

We're researching using the Content Recommendation Engine to feature products. Some of our websites have over 2,000 different SKUs/unique URLs so I was wondering if this is a recommended use case.

Thanks!

you probably can just by adding the page

Adding Content to Content Recommendations - Marketo Docs - Product Docs

but Marketo is NOT an ecommerce engine, so i would wonder if their algorithm would hurt or help here. There's probably a better engine for this use-case.

Hey Aaron, I know this was a while ago but I was curious if you had any success with this (or if you used an outside solution, if you have any recommendations). Thanks!

Hi Aaron,

I just recently came across your question about Predictive Content,

Interesting question here, for our predictive content discovery and recommendation engine, we consider a piece of content a URL.

We discover all URL that are HTML, PDF, Video based, so in your case of 2,000 unique product URLs. Yes we can discover this and these URL's are processed in the machine learning and predictive analytics engine to produce a predictive content result that you can display on your website or within your email.

It will take into account various parameters, like what type of visitors viewed the URL (your product), their behaviors, similar visitors, and the popular, trending, newness of the content, etc... So on that level you can leverage and use the Predictive Content application.

However, we did not build predictive content specifically for B2C and it's not optimized for specific B2C use cases, so we do not take into account B2C parameters like prices, purchase history, etc... So on that level it won't be ideal.

See this doc I wrote explaining more about the Content Auto-Discovery Process:
