Can you hide UTM parameters in URLs using Link Shorteners?

Yea, as the title suggests.

We use a lot of campaign names in our UTM parameters to organize better in Google Analytics, but not necessarily info we sometimes want our guests to see. Can you take a long URL with UTM parameters and shorten it using a link shortener but still have those UTM parameters register?

And would hidden fields using UTM parameters still work if using a link shortener?

Hi Malik,

Sure you can. The difficulty is that it is not automated. You will have to go to an URL shortener, paste you full URL, get the short one and paste it in the email. Also, some info that Marketo automatically append to the URL will be lost. Typically the mtk_tok.

What is the consequence of losing the mkt_tok? Does that take away tracking? And thanks!

The consequences are huge. Your web sessions will not be associated. Do not use any URL shortener that does not append additional parameters at click time.  For example, use LinkSense, not Bitly (the Pro edition of Bitly may work, I'm not sure at this time).
