Can you delete a program status once it's been created?

I have created a program channel called "lead nurture" and have built three of these lead nurture programs. I added a program status to this campaign, but later realized it was unnecessary. 

Is it possible to delete this newly created program status?

When I erase the status name and progression value and click "save" my changes are not saved. I have hidden the status.

All three of my lead nurture programs have members, but none of those members have the program status that I'm seeking to delete, additionally none of these programs are synced with Salesforce. So there won't be a conflict created with the sync.

Appreciate a little insight here.
