Question

Can you add an a/b test to an "email blast" program?

I used an Email Blast program instead of Email Send.

First of all, what the heck is the difference?! I was told to use Email Blast bc it has more program statuses - but seriously this is confusing. Why do we need two things that sound nearly the same?

More importantly, how do I add an a/b test to it? I found instructions for a/b tests on Email Send programs, not Email Blast programs.

The newer "email program" (what you refer to as "email send") was designed to be a more simpler, wizard-based program for setting up one-time email sends.  I, personally, very rarely use them unless I want to do some A/B testing (which is where these are far superior than the "champion/challenger" type of testing (too manual for us to use) that you can use in a regular program.  Regular Marketo programs are much more flexible.  Also, Email Programs cannot be used within Engagement Programs.  Hopefully, Marketo will bring the newer A/B testing to regular programs one day.

This is the old way:

The new Champion Challenger Method

Just to fully answer this:
Email Blast is a default program channel type that just has some basic Statuses. It is a free-form program, meaning you can do whatever you want inside it.

Email Send is a special Program that enables AB testing if you want it.

Does anyone know what the new URL is for this: https://community.marketo.com/MarketoArticle?id=kA050000000KytQCAS

I can't find it since we moved to the new Community and I can't seem to find any of my previous bookmarks...
