Can we have a progressive profiling form with a different number of fields at consecutive steps?

It is possible, with progressive forms, to create a logic where when a new prospect sees the form for the first time he's presented 7 form fields and at every other visit (second, third step) we only present 4 form fields?

For example:

Step 1:
Email
First name
Last name
Phone
Company
Industry
Job Title

Step 2:
Email
new custom field 1
new custom field 2
new custom field 3

Step 3:
Email
new custom field 4
new custom field 5
new custom field 6

It is possible to do with custom javascript, but this is not native functionality.

Yes, simply select the fields you'd like to use for progressive profiling and the number of blank fields you'd like to show up each time.
This article will show you how to set it up:

Hi Kristen,

Thank you for sharing the article. I have read it before and I believe I understand how it works.

The only field I want to show on every step is "email".

BUT I want the first step of the progressive profiling to show 6 additional fields and the other steps of progressive profiling only 3 additional fields. Does that make sense?

From what I can tell, this is not possible in Marketo. I'm trying to find out whether anyone else has had the same challenge and if/or there are any workarounds.

I think your only work around would be to create that first form, then the second form with only the email at the top and your remaining 6 progressive profiling fields, with 3 blank fields selected. So 2 forms total.
