Can 'change data value' be used to set a field value to empty?

We have fields being used by data processes using the Marketo API that is expecting data in a specific format - or that it is <null>.  

However Some junk data found its way into a custom fields which is interfering with the process - so i'm try to change the value of the field back to <null> / empty.

Any thoughts?
