'Campaign Assigned' coming along for the ride when contacts are cloned

Our sales force sometimes uses CLONE to help expedite the creation of new contacts in SFDC. I just realized that this cloning was also bringing along our CAMPAIGN ASSIGNED field, which is used to hold the current nurturing campaign status. 

Is there a way in SFDC or Marketo to prevent this from happening?

Did a quick search, looks like this is a common problem (people want to be able to choose which fields are cloned); they suggest creating a custom Clone button that doesn't pass those particular field values.

Did a quick search, looks like this is a common problem (people want to be able to choose which fields are cloned); they suggest creating a custom Clone button that doesn't pass those particular field values.

Wow thanks Jason. I did some quick Googling earlier and came up with "Salesforce needs to implement this feature! Argh!".

This is far more useful and I'll have to give it a try. Will post back my results!
