Bring back the 'old' search functionality in the new user interface

Dear Product Team,

We have tried the new user interface in the Design Studio for Images and Files.

For some reason, using the new interface, we cannot search for an image or files based on a key word in their names. Instead, in the new interface, we could only research an image or file by its first letter. This has caused a huge inconvenience for us to search for images and files. We have hundreds of images and files in our Design Studio, and it is impossible to search based only on the first letter of the file name.

We have reached out to support regarding this change, and this is their response:

"They mentioned that this is an updated performance related function for the New Interface. "Search works differently in the new UX for performance related reasons and cannot be changed to the classic "contains" behavior.  At some point in the near future the classic experience will be removed and search across all assets will be consistent."

It seems silly to remove the 'contain' logic in the search bar, as the whole point of the research bar is to perform search so that the user could quickly find things.

Hope that's enough information for the situation. Thank you!
Wayne

This is much needed! PLEASE bring it back!!!!

Why would Marketo make search harder. We don’t always know what we name files and by taking this away, really limits our efficiency when we are searching for something. Oh and since we can’t redirect pdfs, makes this problem worse if we end up adding the same file because we can’t search correctly for it.

What a horrible “upgrade”

Hi, @saraun1  Thanks for adding the comment here. Yes, this new search logic does not make much sense. I hope they can hear our feedback on this one.

You probably already know this. Meanwhile, we can still use the 'old' interface to do searches in Design Studio. Hope this helps for now : )

Completely agree with everyone saying that having a search option that does not search based on "contains" logic does not make a lot of sense, especially since that in the "old" experience was perfectly fine. The old experience works fine for now, but hope this gets fixed soon!

Totally agreed.  We should be have option to search using 'contains'.  This is not improving user experience. Can we please have this search option in new UI?

For search to not utilise 'contains' capability seems quite regressive

Dear Marketo Community,

As discussed above, we've also noticed that the 'contains' logic is available in the Landing Pages and Snippets sections when using the search bar in the next-gen user interface.
Is it possible to add this function back into the 'Images and Files' section as well?

This will save so much time when we look for images and files in the new interface.

Thank you so much!

Dear Community,

It seems like the classic Design Studio (Image and Files) user experience will be deprecated in the September release.|
Release notes: https://experienceleague.adobe.com/docs/marketo/using/release-notes/current.html?lang=en (bottom of the page)

If the existing 'contains' search logic is still unavailable in the new user interface, does this mean it will never be available once the classic interface has retired?

It would be much appreciated if someone could confirm this question.

Thank you,
Wayne

@wy-2   I agree the search by 'contains' feature is a gem in classic Design Studio, especially if you have an asset in multiple languages you want to search for.

Also as we have some older workspaces that contain images, forms and assets while I can't clone them to the new Global workspace, I hope that the 'Contain' logic doesn't disappear from the new view in Marketing Activities as well as Design Studio- otherwise, we lose access to forms in separate workspaces - major rebuild if 'contains' logic is lost in Marketing Activities too.

Hi, @zoe_forman Yes, I totally agree. Hopefully this won't be removed from the modern experience.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for this feedback. We are currently reviewing how best to bring this back. The original search in the older experience had drawbacks for large asset lists. We are planning to bring an improved search functionality back in early 2024. Please bear with us in the meantime.
