Question

Block email addresses from ever receiving emails

Hi,

Is there a function or process that would allow me to create a list of email addresses that should never be sent any campaign emails from Marketo IF they were to enter into any flow etc.

I'm thinking along the lines of a trigger flow but not quite sure that would work if I dont yet know of the future campaign names an email address could come through.

Any ideas on this please?

Thanks

One simple and robust approach is adding those emails to a static list and then in the campaigns' smart list adding a filter "Member of List" NOT IN your_static_list.

The variable you're looking for to prevent a lead from ever being sent emails is called Black Listed.

What kind of flow campaigns are you thinking of triggering a "Black Listed = true" event on? If you can give more details on why you want to blacklist certain leads, I'll be able to advise the best solution :)

Borrowed from Unix: simple is beautiful. Casting my "Like" for Adam's suggestion.

Hi Adam,

It's basically people who have requested to be unsubscribed after being sent an email. It's an ad hoc process at the moment to firstly know who the contact is,  and then mark them as non contactable. However it seems some do filter through into campaigns (I'm presuming because someone set the override of unsubscribes when creating it)

An example I have today is someone who was sent a campaign email, asked to not be included in any emails. I would like to make sure if that email address was to ever enter back into the DB it is never picked up by any list created in or outside of Marketo Lead dB. At times we will import SF data but again, I need a process that recognises a particular email and doesn't send to it.

Rashida:

Check to make sure their record has been checked off an Unsubscribed. Keep those records in your database to ensure they don't receive anything ever again.
