Better Understanding - Cast

I'm trying to understand the engagement program. I can't get my head around "cast". I think I'm looking for something physical to see. Is a cast just the email added to the stream. Can someone give me an analogy or something that will help me understand cast?

A Cast is the event of sending emails from an Engagement Program.

It is important to separate Cast from the physical email you drop in.

As Val points out, a Cast is a time/date that the system will send the next email - for THAT lead.

So if the next Cast is Dec 10 at 815am, Marketo will send all of the emails it has out to those who are NOT Exhausted or Paused and in that Stream. All this means is each lead has a schedule:

Lead 1 just joined and his next email is Email 01 on Dec 10
Lead 2 has already received Emails 1,2,3 and is due for Email 04 on Dec 10
Lead 3 is Exhausted, received all the preivous emails and will NOT receive anything at the next Cast. This can be changed if you add a new Email to the Stream.

Hi Jessica,

I think of the casts as the date and time the stream will execute an email send based on the cadence that is defined.

If you hover over the stream cadence in your engagement program, it will show you the future casts.

Hi. I have a quick question on this. In my engagement stream, it says 1041 leads cast with EMail 1, but on my dashboard, it says Email 1 has been sent to 0 people. Is there a reason for this? Thanks!
