Associate Leads/Contacts with a Salesforce Custom Object

We have a custom Object in Salesforce.com which is related to the Account object. We want to build a smart list in Marketo to finds contacts related to accounts that have data in this custom object.  Is there a way to do this?

If the relationship between the custom object and the account is "Mater-Detail" Relationship, you can add a rollup summary field (Master object = account, summarized object = custom object") that counts the amount of records.
After the field is synced to Marketo, you can use on your smart lists ("Number of Records on custom object" greater than 0)
