Are Sales Insights merged when SFDC lead/contact merge?

We've merged a number of leads with duplicate contacts in Salesforce, and Sales Insights were stored on the lead records. Sales Insights are no longer populated in MSI on the updated contact. 

Are Sales Insights merged when SFDC lead/contact merge? If not, how can we get the MSI of the lead migrated to the contact?

Per Marketo Support - Sales Insights will not combine when merging a lead and contact. You must convert the lead to a contact, then merge contacts.
