API calls split out... is it still considered Muchkin API?

Trying to prevent updates to Company name via Munchkin API

However, just yesterday I split the API calls to match up to certain forms so that we can diagnose where and which form is causing the limit to be met, as we recently began hitting our API limit.

Does splitting this out cause it to be a Web service API call vs. a Munckin API call?

Don't know what you mean by "split the API calls."  A standard Marketo Forms 1.0/2.0 post doesn't use any API calls. Can you explain this further?

You'd know whether you were using the Munchkin API to update lead fields (you'd be generating a hash key and using associateLead).
