Can you change the account string in the admin section?  Is account string the "name" of our Marketo Instance?

Erin,

Yes, you're right. Account String is the name of your Marketo instance at the system level. Unfortunately, as an Admin of your Marketo instance, you will not be able to just change/rename the Account String. I'd recommend reaching out to Marketo Support to discuss this and as to why you'd like to change your Account String (in case you'd like it changed).
