I have a situation were I have several users who are no longer with the company and I want to make their profiles inactive. I need to keep their profiles for auditing reasons, if I set a date for the Access Expires for those individuals will they still be in Marketo and will I still have an audit trail?

As far as I understand, the audit trail will still exist once the user is "expired". You can also set the expiration date for a past date.
