A/B test in a flow

Hello

We are trying to A/B test in our flows but it doesn't appear Marketo has that functionality, how is everyone else handling this? (we looked at the champion/challenger option but our flows can be 10+ emails with different segments and to manually control this would be impossible).

Hi Valerie,

Marketo certainly does this in several ways, depending on your needs.

  1. Random Sample Choice step and/or list breakdown. This is well trod and you can search for it here.
  2. Email Send Program - this is built in and is good for one offs.
  3. Champion Challenger - this is for trigger flows or Engagements. Well documented under docs.marketo.com

Now you say you have flows with 10+ emails and segmentation, so this is a multi-variate situation that is harder to pull off in Marketo. If you can share a screenshot or clarify what is meant here, I'm sure we can help.

Unfortunately, if you have multiple Segments in an email, you will need a sophisticated grid to watch all of the variations. I suggest only using the above with non-dynamic emails. Perhaps that's not what you want, but you'll have your sanity.

    Valerie Decker​ can you expand on "A/B test in our flows"? Like you want to do different actions to groups? Or you want to send different emails in the flow? If it's just emails you could do a random sample option.

    Hello

    Initially we want to A/B test either subject lines or flow cadence (but not in the same flow). Essentially one brand will have 2 segments, we want to A/B test the cadence on each segment (one will be 14 days and the other will be 21 days) and for another brand we will again have 2 segments but want to A/B test the subject lines.
