AI is a powerful tool that can be used to utilize, enhance, or cleanup the data we have in Marketo. We can use AI in our processes moving forward to reap the benefits but since AI adoption in RevOps only started in 2023 what do we do if we want to process the large number of records that existed in our instance prior to the advent of AI? Hello! We recently set up the ZoomInfo integration with Marketo and are creating nurtures and pushing ZoomInfo lists into those campaigns. We try to limit the size of the lists so that we're not sending a large volume of emails. Sometimes, however, a member on our marketing team will create a larger list in Zoominfo and they want to break the list up so we're not sending it all at once. So we do this manually and bypass the integration and download the list, break it into multiples lists, and these static lists into the campaign over the course of a month or so. The question has come up - is there a better way to handle these larger lists? Is there a way to basically throttle the list so that it doesn't all go out at once, but we can pull parts of it on a weekly basis? Any insight from anyone that's run ZI campaigns in campaigns via Marketo is appreciated! Thanks,Dan

⚠️  This post has been edited by a moderator for accuracy.   When exporting Marketo Activity, specifically Form Fill activities, we have encountered two issues that cause problems when trying to reliably parse the exported CSV file.   1. 'checksumFields' Value Contains Unescaped Commas   Inside the attributes field, there is a Form Fields entry. This contains a checksumFields value which is a comma-separated list of field names. However, this is not properly escaped for CSV (RFC 4180). As a result: Commas are interpreted as field delimiters. CSV parsers break and produce misaligned columns. Downstream systems cannot reliably import these exports. Example: "checksumFields":"FirstName,LastName,Title,Company,Email"  Because of this, CSV readers see FirstName, LastName, etc., as separate fields.   2. 'Form Fields' is PHP Serialized, Not JSON   Unlike the rest of the attributes object (which uses JSON-like syntax), the Form Fields valu

Hi team, I'm trying to load the Email Performance Report in Marketo, but it's not loading. I had applied a smart list to filter for a specific set of people and emails sent between October 2024 and January 2025. To troubleshoot, I also tried removing the smart list, but the report still isn't loading. Has anyone else experienced this? Could it be related to data volume, date range, or something else? Appreciate any insights!   TIA

Hi there,  I am launching an email campaign that requires some links to direct to a partners personal portal. I am using velocity scripts to populate this and am pulling in the partners ID through their person record and inserting that into the url. For some reason when I preview it in Marketo and click the link, it works, but when I send myself a test or an actual email send, it just goes to the login page and not the personal portal of the test record. I have attached some screenshots. It seems like the actual ID isn't rendering in the url when it's sent out? Does anyone know a workaround for this?

I am building out an Interactive Webinar and have everything setup, I have a Smart Campaign that triggers to set "Registered" status and then send a notification email that contains the webinar link. I ran a test and the link is not populating. I see my record in the Members section with a URL, but the email is not populating it using the {{member.webinar url:default=edit me}} token. I even set a wait step before sending the email to make sure the URL populated in the webinar program.

Hello Everyone,We recently connected Facebook Lead Ads with Marketo and submitted a few test leads. However, the leads are not showing up in Marketo yet. I’ve checked the integration and confirmed that all the field mappings are set up correctly.Has anyone else experienced this issue or found a solution?

Velocity is already verbose, but you’ve still gotta code defensively even if that means a little more code.   Crucially, in the Marketo-Velocity ecosystem, don’t assume code will only run in the context of a Person record. Prepare for person fields and object lists to be empty. This is true, for example, during asset approval.   Take this little snippet that adds a footer including the email domain: #set( $emailParts = $lead.Email.split("@") ) #set( $emailDomain = $emailParts[1] ) If this email was mistakenly routed to your spam folder, ask the administrator of the ${emailDomain} mailserver to allow future emails from info@example.com.   It’ll run fine when you preview by a Person or List, but when you try to approve you’ll get:   You can’t see the full error in the popup, but if you look at the underlying Java error it’s an ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException.[1]   And this makes sense! I am looking to export data from form fills, I know you make a smart list but how do you see all the fields filled out and are you able to export that data?

I love the idea of the new Advance BI Analytics platform but am struggling with something pretty basic and hope someone can help me out.  I'm trying to build a Database Health dashboard to call out the items that need to be removed from Marketo.  This includes outright junk, people missing emails, Leads that were never converted, etc.  I can't figure out how to show a % of the total database for each of these items.  We can't create new measures so the approaches in the Power BI community are not viable.  How the heck do you create a card showing the % of total leads in my database that don't have email addresses? Has anyone undertaken this type of database health reporting exercise in the new reporting platform that could give me some tips?   

Hi Team , We have a field at opportunity level which is a custom field and we want to display that value in the body of the email , when we use velocity script in the email script token with that value it gives us 35000.0 , but we would like to display as 35,000 . Can you help me how this can be fixed ?

We need to build personalized emails using Custom Object data via a Velocity script. However, the Custom Object in question is related to the Account in SFDC, not directly to the Contact. Unfortunately, SalesOps has been unable to create a new custom object that would mirror this data and relate directly to the Lead or Contact.Is there another way to achieve our goal? Specifically, could we sync the custom object data into Marketo and then use a Smart Campaign to populate custom Person fields, which could then be used as personalization tokens in the email?Also, the current Marketo instance has only two custom objects provisioned, and one is already in use.

Hi everyone. As a one-person Marketo "department", I am learning new things about the instance I inherited. One is that our CRM and Marketo do not communicate - there is a daily file transfer that appears to be customer data (name, email, etc) and custom object (type of account, when opened, etc) that captures any new customers and places them into a workflow (existing Onboarding Journey). Our I.T. Department sends me spreadsheets for both as a way to check the data transferred if I want or need.That said, I have completed a new customer onboarding journey that I'd like to test using fake test data that mirrors the two spreadsheets.The field that ties both spreadsheets together is called, CIF, and I think I need to exclude this from a list import of the customer data. When I upload the custom object spreadsheet, I will need to include CIF.Needless to say, I am a bit apprehensive in uploading the spreadsheets and testing the data. Hi!I am trying to clean up all the images and files in the Design Studio that we upload to Marketo. When selecting multiple items at one time and hitting the "move" button, I keep getting an error image that will not allow me to select multiple until I refresh the page. I can select multiple one time before I get the error message again.I wouldn't care that much but we have over 600 items and selecting one at a time is tedious and time consuming. Just trying to see if there are better solutions! Hello!  I was wondering if I can run something by someone: I have two filters in a trigger campaign Trigger: Fills out <form>Regular filter: Person was created This means that the campaign will run if the person was created by that specific form fill right? Just curious because I am looking through the log and it seems like it pulled a small handful of people who weren't created by had filled out the form.

Hi Everyone,   We are experiencing a sync issue between Salesforce and Marketo and could really use a hand a) getting confirmation that others experience this and b) getting some direction on how to implement a way around it.   Fundamentally we believe this is a race condition between the Marketo and Salesforce 5 minute core sync.   What we observe ------ A Lead record is initially created in Salesforce as a Lead. The Sync then picks up this lead and brings it into Marketo, triggering “Person Is Created” and our lifecycle logic picks up and starts to execute various campaigns.   While this is occurring in Marketo, back in Salesforce, the end user then converts the lead into a Contact record.  Now’s the interesting part.    Depending on when in the random 5 minute interval this whole scenario plays out this can cause a race condition. If the Lead was created toward the end of the sync’s interval, then the converted Contact get’s sync’d into Marketo.&nb

Hi,Looking for best practices and recommendations/tips etc. to manage race conditions between Marketo and SF. Here's what we are facing. Sometimes during lead conversions, I see the status of 'Converted' on the converted lead written into Marketo which then syncs this value on the Contact record on SF overwriting the actual status (for some reason we have 'Converted' as a lifecycle stage). We now end up with Contact records with the status 'Converted'. I see similar issues when campaign members are created at the same time as lead conversion and getting associated with the converted lead rather than the contact record. What's the best way to handle this? Does it make sense to have a delay between lead creation and conversion? Curious if anyone here has also faced these issues and how you handled them.
