SFMC to AJO Complete Migration using AI Agent

Hi Team,

We have a client who has an AJO license, but currently all their customer journeys, campaigns, data, and related assets are built and managed in SFMC . The client is interested in migrating everything from SFMC to AJO and wants to explore whether AI Agents can be leveraged to accelerate or automate this migration. As a services organization, we would like to understand the feasibility and approach.

Could you please help us understand the following:

  1. How can AI Agents help in this migration scenario?
    • What capabilities can AI Agents provide during the migration process?
  2. Which activities can be handled by AI Agents, and which will still require human intervention?
    • Please outline the responsibilities of AI-driven automation versus manual effort.
  3. What are the key considerations before committing to the client that this migration is achievable?
    • Are there any technical limitations, dependencies, risks, or prerequisites that should be evaluated upfront?
  4. What are the recommended steps for an SFMC to AJO migration?
    • Please provide a high-level migration approach covering assessment, planning, asset migration, data migration, validation, testing, and go-live.

@pri72764 Yes, SFMC to AJO migration is feasible, but it should be treated as a transformation/rebuild program, not a pure lift-and-shift migration.

AI Agents can accelerate SFMC asset discovery and inventory, Journey analysis and mapping etc while human intervention is still required for Data architecture and XDM design, Deliverability/IP warmup, and Channel setup etc.

You can use AI Agents as migration accelerators, not full automation replacements. A phased migration wave approach is strongly recommended instead of migrating all SFMC assets at once.

Internally team is working on building migration/onboarding agents for similar migrations but no ETA for now.

@Pulkit_Jain_  Thanks for your reply. I’m looking for the similar use case. Could you please check and let us know the below use cases as well.

I'm looking for clarification on whether Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO) can fully replace Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) for the following use cases.

Use Case 1: API-Triggered Journey with Real-Time Data Validation

We have SFMC Journeys that are triggered through an API. We share the API endpoint and credentials with a third-party system, which directly invokes the SFMC API. Once the data is received and stored in a Data Extension, the first notification is sent after one day. Before sending the notification, we validate the customer's latest (live) data to determine whether the notification should be sent.

Can AJO support this same workflow?

Use Case 2: File-Based Journey Trigger

A source system drops files into SFMC. SFMC monitors a specific folder and file pattern. Once a matching file arrives, it loads the data into a Data Extension, performs segmentation, and an Automation triggers the Journey.

Can AJO provide an equivalent file-based ingestion and journey orchestration process?

Use Case 3: Two-Way SMS with Backend Lookup

We currently manage both Email and SMS in SFMC. For SMS, if a customer sends a keyword such as "RStatus", SFMC uses AMPscript to query a backend system and returns the customer's product status via SMS.

Can AJO support similar two-way SMS interactions with real-time backend lookups and dynamic responses?

Use Case 4: Integration with Third-Party Services

In SFMC, we use Script Activities to integrate with third-party services such as Kafka and Bitly by invoking their APIs during automation or journey execution.

How can similar integrations be implemented in AJO? Does AJO provide equivalent capabilities for calling external APIs or integrating with systems like Kafka and Bitly?

Overall, all of the above scenarios are currently supported in SFMC.

Can AJO support these use cases natively, or would additional Adobe Experience Platform services or custom integrations be required? If there are limitations, what are the recommended alternatives?
