How to verify/Test Audiences in AJO

How can the Audience in AJO can be tested, whether the records qualifying in the Audience are as expected. The initial read Audiences are ignored while using test mode of the journey.

One of the approach to verify the records is by querying the Profile snapshot and compare the count with Audience. This doesn't seems to be a convincing approach for QA/Testing Team.

What could be the another way for it?

Sanity journeys can be created with the read audience + end activity and once this is published, you will have the profiles that entered the journey (as a result of being qualified into the audience) in step events dataset.

These profiles can then be verified (either by profile lookup or by writing queries on the respective datasets) if they indeed have the audience criteria.

You can load test data into the respective datasets having all the attributes that should satisfy the audience criteria and should see it being qualified into the audience based on the type of audience defined. If the same audience is being used in journey, those respective entrances can be seen in step events dataset.

Do you have an example query that can be used for this?

If you have a streaming audience, wait for some time after ingestion to go to the profile of the ingested audience, and verify audience qualification.

If it's a batch audience, wait for the next segment evaluation to verify whether the ingested profile is qualified.
