Gmail “Ignored” bounces during IP re-warming

Hi everyone,

We’re currently re-warming a subdomain that was previously warmed in Aug–Sep 2025, after a period of low volume.

Since ramping up again (Feb), we’re seeing many Gmail bounces due to timeouts, classified as “Ignored” (not hard or soft).

We also noticed the subdomain has DMARC set to p=none.

Could this be impacting Gmail deliverability? Any recommendations to improve reputation during re-warming? Is there a way in delivery logs to see the exact gmail bounce reason? something like this: https://knowledge.workspace.google.com/admin/support/troubleshooting/gmail-smtp-errors-and-codes?hl=en&visit_id=639100432066783742-50066658&rd=1

Thanks!

    Hi @Silvio6

You should reach out to Adobe deliverability to address any potential issues. I recommend reaching out to them as soon as possible to review the logs and provide you complete details on the errors as these details are not available through the UI.

They can also provide a strategy and practical guidance for managing email volumes after a period of low volume.

    Thanks,

    David

    @Silvio6

Gmail defers and throttles mail when sender reputation is low — very common during IP or domain re‑warming, especially after inactivity. These appear in AJO as “Ignored”.

Since Gmail enforces DMARC so missing DMARC or p=none may increase Gmail throttling, leading to timeouts and slow warm‑up.

This document provides a detailed IP warm‑up guideline:

    Hi @Silvio6

You're seeing 2 different things mixed together:

    1.Timeout / "Ignored" bounces during warm‑up

In AJO, many Gmail issues show up as Timeout with type=ignored. That usually means:

    2.DMARC p=none and Gmail/Yahoo rules

For Gmail/Yahoo (Feb 2024 changes) the key point is:
