Question

Expression to count profiles coming in from previous node

Hi there,

I was wondering if there’s an expression I can referent to count the number of profiles coming in from previous node and if it’s more say 1000, go to Others path? In short, any alternate to Profile Capping which we have been testing.

Thanks!

@AK5

In AJO, there’s no expression/function to dynamically count profiles coming from the previous node (for example count(previousNodeProfiles)). The closest option is the Optimize activity → Condition → Profile Cap, which can route overflow profiles to a “Limit reached” path.

However, Profile Cap is not exact/deterministic and was mainly designed for IP warm-up scenarios.

Hi @puK231, thanks for the quick response. Any count profiles expression we can try and not necessarily coming from previous nodes. We have been using Profile Cap and we are looking for an alternate for various reasons. Thanks.

No — AJO does not currently support any profile-count expression/function in journeys. The workaround is usually to pre-split or limit the audience upstream in AEP/Audience Composition before profiles enter the journey.
