Create a random sample of 30,000 from a given audience

I am trying to send a comms to a random sample of 30,000 from a given audience. Initially I was looking to add a profile cap condition after audience read and prior to the email being sent.

Will this provide a random sample, or does it read the first 30,000 profile of the audience?

    Hi ​@serena_stevens  - Profile cap will read the data from the given audience in a random manner and there will be no guarantee that same 30,000 profiles would be targeted everytime(Its completely random). Since you are targeting more than 10,000 profiles please make sure you have 1.3 times the count of number of profiles you want to target in the audience i.e 30,000 * 1.3 = 39000 profiles. Please make sure that your audience has 39000 profiles if you want to target choose 30,000 profiles.

    For live journeys, here are the thresholds to consider to ensure the limit is reached:

    • For a cap greater than 10,000, the number of distinct profiles to be injected must be at least 1.3 times the cap.
    • For a cap below 10,000, the number of distinct profiles to be injected must be 1000 plus the cap.

      Thank you ​@arpan-garg, yep, understand the considerations with a cap greater than 10,000. We will only target the audience with one email so this solution will be suitable.
