As per AEP Segmentation Guardrails, org can have up to 4000.

https://experienceleague.adobe.com/en/docs/experience-platform/profile/guardrails

However as per AEP sandbox documentation, the maximum number of sandboxes allowed are 75.

https://experienceleague.adobe.com/en/docs/experience-platform/sandbox/home#:~:text=A%20default%20Experience%20Platform%20license,of%2075%20sandboxes%20in%20total.

Is this a documentation error?

Indeed, looks to be a documentation error which I see has been updated now.
