AJO dynamic content and personalization in emails

We are currently using dynamic content in our emails and would like to take this a step further.

Litmus gives the possibility to use personalized dynamic content in emails, such as a countdown, a personalized image based on the customer, and so on.

Next to that, an integration with Adobe with NiftyImages is possible to be able to display dynamic and personalized visuals in emails, such as countdowns, personalized images, location-based content, etc. 

 

Can Adobe AJO also supports this kind of dynamic content?

AJO supports dynamic personalization, but it's important to distinguish between build-time (send-time) and open-time personalization.

What AJO Does Natively (Build/Send-Time) Using its visual rules builder and Handlebars syntax, AJO personalizes content at the moment of send using AEP/AJO profile data:

  • Personalized images swapped based on user attributes or segments
  • Location-based content — text, offers, and imagery tied to profile location
  • Conditional layouts — full structural changes using if/else, audience, attributes logic
  • AEM Dynamic Media — image templates auto-populated with profile data

Since AJO compiles HTML at dispatch rather than at open, tools like NiftyImages or Litmus are still required for:

  • Live countdown timers — real-time ticking GIFs rendered at open
  • Scratch-offs & live polls — interactive widgets pulling live data at the moment of open
