Segmentation evaluation questions from Test

Hi,

in the practice test  for AEP there are some questions and the respective answers which confuse me:

1. Once an audience is created in Experience Platform, what is the typical timeframe for its availability in edge segmentation use cases?

  • the right answer is:Audience definitions propagate to the Edge Network in about an hour.
  • my doubt is: Should it not be immediately available?  (which also one of the options in the test)

2. When a segment for streaming or the edge has been created, at what time will ALL profiles that meet the criteria be included in the segment?

  • the right answer is: Within the next 24 hours.
  • my doubt is: should it not be Immediately upon the creation of the segment? (which also one of the options in the test)

thanks

Ad1. This is the case of the architecture of AEP and Edge Network. It is what it is 🙂 Probable there are some challenges why it can be a real-time or it might be really expensive for Adobe 🙂

https://experienceleague.adobe.com/en/docs/experience-platform/segmentation/faq#how-long-does-it-take-for-a-segment-definition-to-be-available-on-the-edge-network

Ad2. For example if you make a condition in the audience: page view event happened < 5 hours. If its incoming event then it would be included automatically in the audience. However if this event happend ex. 5 mins before you created your audience that profile would be included in that audience after the segmentation job. Its not best explained in documentation. I also have doubts about this.

Thanks mate.

Re Ad1, I read the QA..is there a specific reasons for the audience to propagate within 1hr? Maybe because it needs to go via the hub first?
