Changing a Primary Identity after profiles have already been stitched can have significant implications in AEP

Once a schema is enabled for use in Real-Time Customer Profile and data has been ingested, you cannot change the primary identity field. Attempting to do so will result in a validation error. If you need to use a different primary identity, you must create a new schema and a new dataset with the updated identity configuration.

follow-up question: Are you asking about changing the primary identity defined in the schema, or changing which identity is marked as primary in the incoming Identity Map (for example, switching from ECID to CRM ID after login)?
