Experience Cloud IDs and everest_g_v2 cookie

We've noticed that the advertising cookie named everest_g_v2 is dropped whenever an Experience Cloud ID is present and we're trying to work out if we can still make use of ECIDs without the everest_g_v2 being dropped. Can anyone advise if this is possible, and if so how to achieve it.

This cookie is due to your use of Adobe Advertising. According to https://experienceleague.adobe.com/en/docs/core-services/interface/data-collection/cookies/advertising, this everest_g_v2 is "Used to map the current and subsequent clicks with other events on your website."

If you're not using Adobe Advertising, then you shouldn't be seeing this cookie being saved in your users' browsers. ECID -- as used to identify users uniquely for Analytics and Target, among other Adobe products -- will still work without this cookie.
