I am very new to adobe analytics and just want to understand the difference between DTM and legacy code implementation.

Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out to Adobe Community.

In the legacy code implementation you need to use the javascript syntax in order to make edits and amends but with the help of DTM it makes it a lot easier to manage the tags used to implement Analytics and other tools.
