Does authenticatedState in identityMap have any practical impact for batch ingestion via Source Connector?

My question is:

Does authenticatedState have any real-world impact when data is 
ingested via batch Source Connector?

Or is it only meaningful for WebSDK / Mobile SDK scenarios where 
events are received in real time via Edge Network?
