Question

AEP to Shopify OOTB batch connection fails at “Add data” step with source connector read error

I am setting up an Adobe Experience Platform (AEP) to Shopify OOTB batch connection. The source dataflow connection was configured successfully, but the connection fails during the “Add data” step in the connection setup.

Error Message:
The following error is displayed:

The request could not be processed. Error from flow provider: The request could not be processed. Failed to read from the source connector. Error code: 'InternalError', message: 'Error while reading single record for table: ...'

Expected Behavior:
The Shopify source connection should successfully read the source data and allow the batch connection to proceed through the Add data step.

Actual Behavior:
The connection configuration fails when attempting to read data from the Shopify source connector.

Impact:
This is blocking the setup of the AEP to Shopify batch connection and preventing data ingestion.

Troubleshooting Performed:

  • Source dataflow connection was created successfully.
  • Issue occurs specifically at the Add data step.
  • Error appears to be related to reading a single record from the source table.

Please suggest if I am missing anything here.

Hi @SantoshRa5  Can you please share me at which step you are getting this error while doing the data preparation to establish the flow?

I suspect the permission issue to access that specific table or data in Shopify, check the Shopify access control or permission who manages it.

Refer more details here - https://shopify.dev/docs/api/usage/access-scopes

Also hope you are able to access the Shopify source schema at “Select Data” step? if not its a permission or white listing issue, we should allow AEP to access shopify source data.

If the above checks are fine, check the below one,

A record in the source table contains a data type (e.g., a null, a malformed date, an unexpected object, or a string instead of an integer) that does not match the expected field definition or target schema in AEP.

Bala

Hi @Imbalakumar  Thanks for your response.

After configuring the Shopify connection in the Add Data step, a list of tables appears. When I select the Customer table, I get the error below. The issue may be related to malformed or nested source data.

When I delete the customer records present in Shopify, the Customer table structure displays successfully, but without any data. This indicates that it is not a permission issue. The error only occurs when customer records are present in Shopify, and I am not sure which Shopify field is malformed and causing it.

Similarly, when I select the Order table, no error appears because there is no data in that table. When i data to order table it generates similar error.

Please suggest me if I missed anything here.

Best Regards

Hi @SantoshRa5  Yes, then its not a permission issue, it should be malformed or nested source data that is something you have to fix at source end to make sure you are getting the source in right structure and datatypes etc.

I think we can mark is solved or close this thread since we have a solution now.

Bala
