Adobe Analytics - eventType setup

We are using the Adobe Analytics Source Connector to ingest data into Adobe Experience Platform (AEP) using an Experience Event schema with the out-of-the-box Adobe Analytics template field group.

In the dataflow, Standard Mapping is enabled. However, we observe that eventType is not available and as a result, in the Profile UI the event name is shown as “Unknown.”

Since eventType cannot be mapped explicitly, what is the recommended way to populate eventType for Adobe Analytics ingested data so that the Profile event name is resolved correctly?

Is this expected behaviour for the Adobe Analytics source connector, and how should it be handled?

As far as I know, this is a known gap in the connector.

technically, the eventType is not a required field in XDM Experience Events, and in the case of the classic page views and link click events, the counters are increased by the presence of the web.webpagedetails.pageviews.value and web.webinteraction.linkclicks.value fields.

If you need to populate the eventType with meaningful data, you may want to try look into data prep options or similar, but your page views and other metrics should ultimately be based upon the presence of the specific “value” fields of the individual event, rather than an explicit string value in the eventType.
