Are there any libraries or frameworks for using WebSockets with CQ 5 (or AEM 6)?

There's nothing OOTB, but you can use Netty for WebSockets. Take a look at https://github.com/Adobe-Consulting-Services/acs-aem-tools/tree/master/bundle-live-reload for a WebSocket-on-AEM project. You can download a content package containing the necessary Netty bundles from https://github.com/Adobe-Consulting-Services/com.adobe.acs.bundles.netty/releases/tag/com.adobe.acs.bundles.netty-1.0.2
