Are annotations stored within AEM for a certain amount of time? Are they deleted when a new version of the page is created?

If I wanted to access page annotations from previous content page versions will I be able to do that (up to 6 months?)

annotations are part of the page and are versioned along with the page.

I believe when you create a new version, they are not carried over. Will test and post back.

Thank you so much! So, as long as I version the page I can revert back to a previous version and then see those annotations associated with the version of that page. Do you know if there is a max. retention to page versions? If there is an older version form 7 months prior, is that accessible?

It is recommended to run a version purge to prevent the repo from growing endlessly. See Version Purging  for details.
