Hi,

Given Oracle's recent announcement that Java SE will be moving to a subscription model for server and desktop (https://www.oracle.com/java/java-se-subscription.html), I wonder if there is any renewed interest in officially certifying AEM with OpenJDK?

6.4 technical requirements currently list Oracle JVM 8/9/10 (and IBM).

    Hi Phil,

    good question, but that's something Adobe needs to decide internally. I guess that there's not that much we can do about it from a community point of view; and yes, having AEM support openJDK would be great.

      Is there any way to (officially) inform Adobe that we need this feature?

      The Adobe AEM CQ Support Portal does not offer any way to create tickets for feature requests.

      It's ok to abuse another ticket category to request features :-)

      Sorry Jörg I am not following you, Where can we put pressure on Adobe to fix the support for OpenJDK.

      Been doing some microtesting and there are some things that need to be solved.

      Raise a daycare ticket for it. And then you should escalate via your regular Adobe channels (Technical Account Manager, Customer Success Manager and Account Executive).

      We are also working on this and found https://helpx.adobe.com/content/dam/help/en/experience-manager/support/adobe-oracle-java-license-agreement.pdf explaining it.

      I have raised a daycare ticket to address some concerns about staying up to date.

      Hello Everyone,

      As of now openJDK is not supported and yes regarding the accessibility of Oracle JDK, Adobe is working to make them available to all customers via a common platform.

      For the meanwhile, please raise a daycare request and the Oracle JDK would be shared to you, which you can use in your environments. Cheers
