Is there a way to setup the new AEM Content Fragment Editor in our local AEM SDK?

The “new” Content Fragment Editor is being promoted as the default editor, but there does not seem to be a way I have found to get this working on our local SDK version of AEM.

Is there a way we can use the new editor on our local instance yet?

No — there is no supported way to run the new Content Fragment Editor UI on the local AEM SDK today.

On SDK / Quickstart you are limited to the classic (Touch UI) Content Fragment editor. The new React/Spectrum‑based editor only runs in the Unified Shell against AEM as a Cloud Service environments (dev, stage, prod, RDE), not against localhost.

@RezaAh Do you have any questions?

Thanks for the clear answer

One follow-up question: Is there any plan or consideration to support the new Content Fragment Editor with the local AEM SDK in the future?

Since this is becoming the go‑to CF authoring experience, having some form of local support would really help with development, debugging, and onboarding, without always relying on Cloud environments. Just curious whether this is something on the longer‑term roadmap or explicitly out of scope.

Your best bet would be to:

  • Check the AEM as a Cloud Service release notes for any announcements

  • Raise it on the feature request; Adobe product teams do monitor those

  • If you have an Adobe account team or TAM, ask them directly; they can surface feature requests to the product group
