TECHNICAL ASPECTS OF AEM AS A CLOUD SERVICE by Gorillagroup - Josh Oransky Abstract While choosing AEM as a Cloud Service as the hosting paradigm for your project, there are several significant differences — both technically and operationally — from how AEM has previously functioned. One of the primary changes from legacy AEM is the way that AEM as a Cloud Service is developed and deployed. Now, code can only be pushed to production using Adobe’s Cloud Manager. Utilizing Adobe Cloud Manager ensures that customer code is separate from the base AEM installation, as well as from the content, and allows Adobe to upgrade AEM without touching customers’ custom applications. While this will require some teams to modify their process, what it enables is probably the most beneficial and anticipated aspect of this offering: no need to ever undertake an AEM upgrade project again! Throughout its history, AEM has been consistently improved, with revolutionary features added for almost every rel

I have a requirement to display the text field (PO num) on top of the page, PO num is already there in the table which gets printed in the form. My requirement is to fetch the PO num from that table and display in a text field. Please note that in the table there can be no of PO nums but the text field always should contain the po num of the row which will be printed last in that page.

Creating and Publishing a Machine Learning Model in Adobe Experience Platform by Bounteous Abstract If you have ever been exposed to the website analytics or digital marketing world, you are probably familiar with Adobe Analytics, Adobe Campaign, or Adobe Target. Now, there is a new Adobe product at the forefront of emerging Customer Data Platforms—Adobe Experience Platform (AEP). Adobe describes AEP as: "The foundation of Experience Cloud products... an open system that transforms all your data —Adobe and non-Adobe — into robust customer profiles that update in real-time and uses AI-driven insights to help you to deliver the right experiences across every channel," (Adobe Office Website). This tool is a platform that provides services for data warehousing, building and deploying advanced machine learning models, and perhaps most importantly, deploying insights and results back to the business world. To discover this product’s true capabilities, we completed a proof of concept (PO

Chatbot solution for AEM by One Inside Abstract What is a chatbot? A chatbot is a tool which automates conversations between website visitors and companies. It’s based on the two parts: “chat” and “bot”. The “chat” is the user interface which enables a (natural) dialog between the customer and the company. Typically, these interfaces enable the communication between humans (human-human dialog, also known as live chat). The “bot” describes the automatization by software. Instead of operators, a machine processes the requests. This results in human-machine communication. With the combination of chat and bot, we have a tool that’s always available for customer communication, is scalable, and provides consistent responses to all users. Natural Language Processing In recent years, chatbots have gained momentum. The technical background of chatbots is Natural Language Processing (NLP). A research field which is decades old. The Wikipedia article about NLP is a good entry point to get a

AEM Dispatcher with ease - Gradle AEM Plugins by Cognifide Tech Blog Posts Abstract Developing AEM Dispatcher configuration can be challenging. The same attribution goes to httpd configuration, especially for developers without a broad experience with it. This article will show how to release this pain with Gradle AEM Plugins using its live reload feature. GAP logo AEM instance setup using Gradle post presented how to set up AEM instances using Gradle AEM Plugins. In this blog post, you will see how to extend this previous example with AEM Dispatcher to model a production environment locally. What is more, we will cover "live reload" mode (the concept known from many JS frameworks), where each code change is immediately reflected in the application itself. How to use this post? There are two ways you can benefit from this article. You can read it entirely to have a good understanding of how the Environment plugin manages Dispatcher. You will know where to change the defaults and how

Using Replicator in AEM by AEM Queries & Solutions Abstract This article covers the basic usage of replicator in AEM where we sometimes can’t replicate the bulk nodes in AEM or we want to create a replicator which can replicate a specific node in our AEM code. I have created the object of the Replictor using Reference annotation in my Java servlet: import com.day.cq.replication.Replicator; import com.day.cq.replication.Replicator; @Reference Replicator replicator; @Reference private transient ResourceResolverFactory resourceResolverFactory; Now get the resourceResolver from the service user and get the Session out of it. Map<String, Object> serviceUserAuth= Collections.singletonMap(ResourceResolverFactory.SUBSERVICE, "serviceUser"); ResourceResolver resourceResolver = resolverFactory.getServiceResourceResolver(serviceUserAuth); Session session = resourceResolver.adaptTo(Session.class); Once you get the session you can use the below code snippet to replicate the no

AEM Forms with Adobe I/O Runtime by Pankaj Singh Abstract We often come across use cases around pre-filling and the submission of data using AEM Forms from/to external databases (DBs). Out of many possible solutions possible to address such use-cases, one solid contender is a modular services based approach using AEM Forms in conjunction with Adobe I/O Runtime. Adobe I/O Runtime is a serverless architecture with the benefits of flexibility, scalability, reduced operating cost, etc. Modular services deployed on Adobe I/O Runtime communicates with an external DB and processes the data retrieved from DB thereafter. Meanwhile, AEM Forms contains powerful authoring capabilities. It has an intuitive UI that saves time in designing and publishing the form by reducing custom development effort. Customization in AEM Asset Quick Publish Action by AEM Learnings Abstract This post is about a requirement raised in Experience League Community forum related to Custom implementation on Asset Publish. AEM Asset Quick Publish Customization Project has custom field named "Effective date". If an asset is selected to publish before an Effective date, pop up should be triggered with option to either "Cancel" or "Continue to Publish" Requirement of this sort involving customizations on top of an OOB functionality can be approached as follows Locate the OOB files related to the functionality Custom code readiness Understanding the existing logic Incorporating our custom logic by overlaying the OOB files. Testing all possible use cases related to custom functionality without hindering any other related OOB flow. Locate the OOB files: As part of locating the OOB files, first step is to trigger a "Quick Publish" on an Asset and observe the flow. While observing the flow for this purpose, w

HTML5 Audio Tracking using Adobe Launch by Adobe Tech Blog Abstract In this post, we will look at how you can setup Adobe Analytics tracking for your HTML5 Audio using Launch by Adobe. In today’s marketing world, there is gaining traction on Audio Analytics. Audio/podcasts are said to be packed with information and they are a perfect sprinkle of entertainment and light-hearted banter. These are also an incredibly engaging and useful medium for businesses and listeners alike. So, it would be safe to say “they are the sleeping giant of content types.” Recently one of my clients requested if the Podcasts on their site can be tracked without them having heartbeat SKU. Initially I was a bit confused on how to approach this, with my research there was not much information available on the internet about Audio tracking without a Heartbeat SDK. Navigating through their site I figured out they are using HTML5 Audio player, so I was intrigued to find out if we can use Launch’s In-built Media

DependsOn: The Cutting-Edge Tech Giving Wings to AEM Authoring Toolkit by Exadel Abstract This is the fourth installment in our series on AEM Authoring Toolkit – an open-source project by Exadel, Inc. The solution is an accumulation of our dev team expertise in orchestrating complex AEM installations that bring together superior browsing experience for end users and an extensive set of tools for site authors. A great part of the new and shiny features offered by the Toolkit originate from the DependsOn subsystem – a JavaScript library implemented on top of the Adobe Granite framework that provides a highly interactive user-friendly authoring interface. We have already introduced DependsOn to the dev community in our previous article. We took a story-like approach last time, but this time we’ll take a closer look at the architecture of the library to see what advantages it brings to AEM developers. A Journey to the Core… Below is a diagram showing the various parts of DependsOn. Thou

How can i implement the Alphanumeric sorting in column view in AEM 6.5? Do we have any default option in AEM 6.5?

Consider this:I have added an Asset at 12, with expiry time for 2 pm today. Then when should i get the pre-expiry notification and post expiry notification? My expiry notification config values are:time based scheduler with cron expression 0 */30 * ? * *prior notification is set to 360.This thing is really confusing!

With the onset of AEM 6.x, Adobe introduced a new modern-looking authoring framework known as touch-oriented interface or Touch UI. Its underlying Granite framework delivers excellent options for authoring on any type of device. You can arrange complex editing dialogs however you like, enjoy the same experience on any device and/or breakpoint, and implement most of the logic in the inline editing mode. AEM 6.x has got all the power and dashing good looks of the Coral 3.0 interface. But there is a tradeoff between the modern interface and usability on the one hand and dev complexity on the other. Dialogs and widgets are defined via JCR node sets, and their structure is not in the least bit simple. Many dialogs, however similar they may be, need just as many defining node sets. Data for dialogs and inline editors serving the same component are sometimes plainly duplicated. This means that the good old “changed once, missed to change elsewhere” problem is in full force here.Furthermore, the

AEM inheritedpageproperties with Sightly, JSP, OSGI Bundle by Sourced Code Abstract Inheritedpageproperties helps you retrieve a parent property from parent pages. Inherited page properties utilises com.day.cq.commons.inherit.HierarchyNodeInheritanceValueMap, where the search is made on the page hierarchy, upwards; searching children of the page nodes (components) are not included. Inherited page properties can be retrieved in multiple ways, where this article will only focus on 3 ways. In this article, we will go through the 3 different ways in how we can retrieve inherited page properties. 1. inheritedPageProperties with Sightly 2. inheritedPageProperties with JSP 3. inheritedPageProperties with OSGI Bundle, Java Backend 1. inheritedPageProperties with Sightly Sightly offers a plethora of AEM Global objects, and one of them notably is the “inheritedPageProperties”. Utilising the inheritedPageProperties global object, we can use dot or square bracket notation to access the interite

Day 20 - Queries In AEM (Part II) by Red Quark Abstract Hey fellow devs 👋! Welcome to today’s post. In the previous post, we learnt concepts of queries in AEM. Building on that knowledge, we will now create a simple search bar that will take an input and queries the search term in the JCR repository for all the cq:Page nodes and under the path /content. Code Example First we will create a simple component with one textfield and a button to execute the search. Then, we will write backend logic to search the term entered in the textfield using the QueryBuilder API. Without further ado, let’s see how can we achieve this - Navigate to CRX DE and under the path /apps/aemtutorials/components/content, create a new component with the following properties - AEM Search Component Rename the file search.jsp to search.html under /apps/aemtutorials/components/content/search and paste the following code in it - This is a simple code where we are creating an HTML form with only two fiel

Day 19 - Queries In AEM (Part I) by Red Quark Abstract Hello good people 👋! Welcome to yet another day of AEM Developer Series. Today, we are going to discuss Queries in AEM. Search functionality is the backbone of almost all the enterprise web applications and AEM is no exception. AEM provides the QueryBuilder API to perform search operations in the JCR. A Query Builder is nothing but a wrapper for a query engine. What’s a query engine, you ask? Read on… Query Engine Simply put, a query engine is a piece of software that is positioned on top of a database which interprets commands given by the users and does what is told. In other words, it is in charge of implementing query functionalities against the database and provides answers to the users/applications. Since we already know JCR is also a database which stores application data in the form of nodes and properties. If we wish to query this data then we would also need a query engine that understands JCR to implement qu
