AEM releases roadmap - what will happen after AEM 6.5? by Krzysztof Ryk Abstract In today's short article, I decided to take a closer look at the AEM releases roadmap and end-of-life matrix to see what vision Adobe has for the future product upgrades. First of all, Adobe launched AEM as a Cloud Service which became an additional product stream (next to on-prem version) in their portfolio and got a dedicated upgrade cycle. So, at the moment, we do have three “streams” of AEM (as a product) that Adobe supports: 1. AEM 6.4 (on-prem = not as a Cloud Service) 2. AEM 6.5 (on-prem = not as a Cloud Service) 3. AEM as a Cloud Service Let’s take a closer look at these. AEM 6.5 Compared to 6.4, the situation is a little bit more atypical when it comes to 6.5. Normally, we would expect that Adobe will support it till Aug 2022 (as it was released in 2019), but according to the Products and technical support periods, there is no end date of core (and extended) support period. What happens instea

AEM Developer's best friend - Gradle AEM Plugin by Adapt.to Abstract Outline Gradle AEM Plugin – a swiss army knife for all AEM related automation. Equipped with expressive DSL. Instead of minutes, incremental builds take seconds and developers stay focused on their tasks. During the presentation, we will focus on custom AEM scripting, instance monitoring and management. We will show a full AEM environment setup (with AEM Dispatcher), following Adobe recommendations related to the Maven archetype structure. Please feel welcomed to prepare your custom and artful ideas for AEM scripts, that we will live code for you during Q&A. It's been already over three years since the 1.0.0 release of Gradle AEM Plugin (GAP), and around 3K of commits. It is also two years since GAP being presented on adaptTo() ("A better Developer Experience for Sling-based applications"). On the one hand, it matured being used in many AEM projects around the world, on the other - it got an incredible number o

Invoking a workflow from Servlet in AEM 6.5.5 by aemsimplifiedbynikhil Abstract Here is an article on how we can implement a requirement where we want to automate the initiation of the AEM workflows in any servlet with some piece of code. So here we will see how to locate the workflow in the CRX and using the same path we can start the workflow with the use workflow session. So to start with we will decide which workflow we want to initiate in the servlet. Lets go to http://localhost:4502/libs/cq/workflow/content/console.html and lets say we will automate Download Asset workflow. So here if we want know the model of this workflow then the value given in the ID column will be our workflow model path. So now in our Servlet we need payload path and the workflow model. payload path is the path to the node which we want to run workflow on. How can deploy my angular change without building full AEM project.  If I do any changes in html/css/ts i need to build project. Please suggest the steps.

AEM File Transfers for Developers by Jim Frenette Abstract There are several different ways to handle file transfers between AEM and your local file system. In this post, I'm going to go over a couple command line tools to transfers files between my local file system and AEM 6.5: AEM repo tool and FileVault VLT. AEM repo tool Follow the instructions at Adobe-Marketing-Cloud / tools / repo to install on your system. For Linux, I used curl to install the repo bash script since it is just a single file. e.g., Read Full Blog AEM File Transfers for Developers Q&A Please use this thread to ask the related questions.

I heard that static template is going to be depreciated and it will be no longer available in AEM 6.5 and it will compatible only with editable template. is that true? Basically I would want to know whether static template will be compatible in AEM 6.5 and also when Adobe is planning to deprecate it ?

Extend and Customize AEM Component Action Toolbar by Initialyze Abstract In this blog, we will learn how to add a new custom action item to the component toolbar. To extend or customize the component action toolbar, at a high level we need to do the following: 1. Create a component for the custom action 2. Overlay the toolbar from WCM 3. Add a custom action item node 4. Implement client library (javascript) to handle the click on the action Step 1 – Create a component for the custom action First of all we need to create a component for the custom action item. This component will be shown or popup when you click on your custom action. For example, let’s create a custom action component here: /apps//components/actions/myaction myaction.html MyAction Header This is a content. Notice the above code snippet, we have defined the id for the custom Action item which will be used in the Javascript later to target. Spice up your Sling Models With Lombok by Initialyze Abstract Project Lombok is a java library that can be used to greatly simplify the process of extending Sling Models from WCM Core. The Digital Foundation Blueprint provided by Adobe greatly streamlines AEM implementation methodology. WCM Core Components, an integral part of this blueprint provide key building blocks components for some of the most common use cases. To extend these core components, one of the recommended implementation pattern is the Sling Model Delegation Pattern. In our experience, using this delegation pattern requires writing a lot of boiler plate code for e.g: We have to implement every method defined by the interface and delegate it. If new methods are introduced (for e.g when we upgrade to newer version of WCM Core Components), we need to implement those methods and delegate those also else, we may run into runtime or compile errors in some cases. Lombok to the rescue! Project Lombok is a java library that

is there way to get current author logged in user in OSGI service/handler  where we don't have slingHttpRequest object. sling servlet  easily current user id can get via below code (if i have logged to AEM author instance as testuser, USER id gives here testuser)ResourceResolver resourceResolver = request.getResourceResolver();session = resourceResolver.adaptTo(Session.class);String userId = session.getUserID()LOGGER.info("USER ID :" + userID);but if same things trying to get in customhandler class which implement AuthenticationFeedbackHandler ,where we don't have slinghttpservletrequest, we have HttpServletRequest.public boolean authenticationSucceeded(HttpServletRequest request,HttpServletResponse response, AuthenticationInfo authInfo) {tried below code, t's give system user id i.e testMap<String, Object> param = new HashMap<String, Object>();        param.put(ResourceResolverFactory.SUBSERVICE, "test");resolver = resourceResolverFactory.getServiceResourceResolver(param);

3 AEM Assets Portal Benefits by KBWEB Consult Abstract Adobe® Experience Manager Assets (AEM Assets) allows a marketing organization to organize the digital files used to market the business. But the assets may not only be used by the marketing organization, but also by internal and external partners to the marketing organization. Internal partners may include field sales organizations and international subsidiaries. External partners may include distributors, dealers, and companies that co-market products with the business. #1 Filter Out Irrelevant Assets One consideration is the fact that internal and external partners do not need, or even want, access to ALL the marketing assets of a business. The respondents to a 2018 IDC study managed a median of 15,000 assets and a mean of over 250,000 assets, most of which would not be pertinent to external partners. A partner without AEM Assets experience may become completely lost when trying to search the ENTIRE digital asset management (DA

Aspect-Oriented Programming (AOP) with Adobe Experience Manager(AEM) by Blog posts around Oracle SOA Suite,Adobe... Abstract Aspect-oriented programming (AOP) is a programming paradigm that aims to increase modularity by allowing the separation of cross-cutting concerns. It does so by adding additional behavior to the existing code (an advice) without modifying the code itself, instead separately specifying which code is modified via a “pointcut” specification, such as “log all function calls when the function’s name begins with ‘set’”. This allows behaviors that are not central to the business logic (such as logging) to be added to a program without cluttering the code, core to the functionality. Aspect-Oriented Programming provides a solution to implement Cross-Cutting Concerns. Implement the cross-cutting concern as an aspect. Define pointcuts to indicate where the aspect has to be applied. This ensures that the cross-cutting concerns are defined in a centralized component and ca

A Blueprint for Audience Activation in Adobe Experience Platform by Stories by Jaemi Bremner on Medium Abstract In the last post, Adobe Experience Platform introduces Digital Experience Blueprints — a whole new way to learn and understand how you can use its technology to build incredible customer experiences. In this post, we introduce our first Blueprint, Audience Activation. Audience-first activation is the key to success in a data-driven marketing world. However, many brands are still focusing their efforts on channel-first activation, which often delivers inconsistent reach and personalization. With a channel-first approach, each channel acts as a silo in which personalization efforts target only the customers interacting with the brand on that channel. The problem with this approach is that it doesn’t reflect the reality that customers interact with brands across many different touchpoints. Channel-first activation cannot connect customers’ behavior through their interactions a

Case Insensitive Queries with the AEM Query Builder by Perficient Blogs Abstract Recently, I needed to perform a query using the AEM Query Builder which was case insensitive. While I normally prefer using JCR SQL2 queries, in this case Query Builder was a better fit as I wanted consuming applications to be able to manipulate the query and doing so as a map is significantly easier than doing so as a string. I was surprised to find that there was no native Query Builder Predicate for doing case insensitive queries so I ended up writing my own. The predicate works by lower casing the value and then using the XPath fn:lower-case method to compare to the field value in lower case. /* This is free and unencumbered software released into the public domain. How to Protect AEM Websites from Cross-Site Scripting(XSS) by Tech Forum Abstract Video: https://youtu.be/9GF3nYfoiK0 Cross-site scripting (XSS) allows attackers to inject code into web pages viewed by other users. This security vulnerability can be exploited by malicious web users to bypass access controls. The actual attack occurs when the victim visits the web page or web application that executes the malicious code. The web page or web application becomes a vehicle to deliver the malicious script to the user’s browser. Most of the time the malicious scripts are injected through URL Parameters FORM Parameters (GET and POST parameters) Cookies HTTP Headers AEM applies the principle of filtering all user-supplied content upon output. The XSS protection mechanism provided by AEM is based on the AntiSamy Java Library provided by OWASP. AntiSamy is an HTML, CSS, and JavaScript filter for Java that sanitizes user input based on a policy file. Read Full Blog How to Protect AEM Webs

We are using SAML to authentication users in our Communities environment but by default SAML creates the users in /home/users but for communities we need them in /home/users/community.Is there a way to change the path (via a config or a java hook) to change where SAML saves these user accounts?When the user is created in /home/users they cannot see other usernames of posters (only unknown user) because the ACL property for everyone to access the profile lives on the community folder. I could add this to the users folder too but this would seem like a security risk.Tried making a workflow to move the node that runs on rep:User Created but it fails with the following error:OakConstraint0063: Attempt to manually create or change a token node or it's parent.

Make integrations simple by cognifide Abstract Integration with other systems is one of the most complex parts of software delivery. Is there a silver bullet that can address issues like flaky tests, unstable environments and non-trivial bugs that slow down the development? It is very rare to have an application that is not integrated with other systems. This also applies to AEM application development. In many cases, we don't have control over those other parties. Such APIs are maintained by other teams or even companies. Sometimes they are not maintained at all. On the other hand, they might not exist when we start our delivery. Those external APIs might be unstable, which can lead to unpredictable behavior of the entire system. It can be unclear what is the root cause of a bug: if it was introduced in the external API or our application. E2E and integration tests that we have in our project might fail from time to time without a straightforward reason (timeout, network issues, uns

Debug Adobe Launch on Any Browsers with Charles by engineering.icf Abstract When managing code with Adobe Launch, it’s critical to be able to test changes before publishing. To make sure changes work as expected in a production environment, it’s helpful change the Launch library, allowing you to see how your dev or stage library will work on your production site. I am working on an AEM SPA Angular application which is running on AEM 6.4.7. Using the typical implementation where the Angular components are mapped to AEM components. To avoid not exposing the /content directory on the URL, I have resorted to using vanity URLs and this was my approach:Changes made on AEM:- OSGi config for Apache Sling Resource Resolver Factory: Added the URL Mapping: /content/awesome/application/home/-/homeAngular:- The app router redirects to /home.html- All URLs on the application point to something like: /home/something/something-else.html  and /home/another-thing/more-things.htmlproxy.aem.conf.json:The configuration for this file looks like this:[ { "context": [ "/**.model.json", "/content/**/**.jpeg", "/content/**/**.jpg", "/content/**/**.png", "/content/**/**.PNG", "/content/**/**/**.png", "/content/**/**/**.PNG", "/content/**/**/**.jpeg", "/content/**/**/**.jpg", "/content/**/**/**.pdf" ]

Hello, I have created a custom experience fragment template because of our need. I am using OOTB clould config to export experience fragment content to target. The export to target is successful and in target i can see the content through externalizer urls.  Now when i try to use that experience fragment offer into activity, it doesn't include the experience fragment content which i can access through externalizer urls instead it give me below  <!DOCTYPE HTML><html><head><meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"/><link rel="stylesheet" href="/etc.clientlibs/foundation/clientlibs/main.css" type="text/css"><script type="text/javascript" src="/etc.clientlibs/clientlibs/granite/jquery.js"></script><script type="text/javascript" src="/etc.clientlibs/clientlibs/granite/utils.js"></script><script type="text/javascript" src="/etc.clientlibs/clientlibs/granite/jquery/granite.js"></sc

How to Choose the Right Approach When Creating Adobe Target Offers by Bounteous Abstract If you have both Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) and Adobe Target licenses, you have a few options of where and how you can create offers. In my previous blog posts, I discussed how to integrate AEM with Target, both for AEM 6.4 and AEM 6.5. Now the question is when to leverage the integration and when does it make sense to use the Target interface instead. Targeting Approaches Before attempting to answer that question, I want to discuss the differences between the three approaches. Approach One: Target UI-Only The most obvious approach is to leverage the plain old Target interface for all your targeting and personalization needs. With it, you’ll have the full suite of Adobe Target features at your disposal. Most commonly for websites, you’re going to use the Visual Experience Composer (VEC) to create your experiences. This method works regardless of which content management system (CMS) you use
