Image Presets - Removing Background off of an image that has an alpha channel

Hi, 

I am having trouble configuring an image preset that allows me to modify the background of a TIFF image to become transparent.

This image is stored as a TIFF in Adobe Experience Manager and contains multiple layers to it. The image file has an alpha channel layer that I thought I could manipulate to change but for some reason when I am trying to render it it is not working.

 

I'd like to have two different image presents with the following formats:

1. Format = PNG with Alpha

2. Format = TIFF with Alpha

 

I've tried the color and bgColor modifiers with the default of 0,0,0,0 but the image does not seem to remove the background at all.

I'm a bit new to this thus any type of information would help!

hi,

 

If you upload an asset which is transparent then using fmt=png-alpha or fmt=png will give transparent image but if uploaded image is not transparent then using fmt will not give transparent image. 

 

We can remove background while uploading the image and steps can be found in below link under section "Knockout Background"

hi,

 

If you upload an asset which is transparent then using fmt=png-alpha or fmt=png will give transparent image but if uploaded image is not transparent then using fmt will not give transparent image.

      Hi @juansska ,
      when saving the Tiff file in Photoshop, there is an extra checkbox to "save transparency".
      Unless this checkbox is checked, your file may have no background but still shows up as a file with a background.

      To see if the file in question has transparency, you can open it in photoshop - use the "save as" command to replace the file and after the replacement warning you see the tiff options.
      From your description, it sounds like you have an extra layer for the background? If not, and you have saved the transparency option, you can use the bgc=0,0,0,0  instead of bgColor=0,0,0,0
