How to discard content changes?

this seems a bazar question.

I created the wknd site.  I edited a page, and changed the layout, expecting to be able to ctrl-z to undo it.  No undo. So next I look for a "cancel" button, but cant see it.  I cant see any way to revert changes.

Am I missing something? how do i go back?

Asks the same question, but there is no obvious solution.  It mentions that you have to remember to manually create versions beforehand, but I didn't. Surely the system has built in versioning?

Content editors cant be expected to never make a mistake...

Hi @tb3dock ,

AEM does not come with any OOTB functionality where it will create version for each edit when user performs any action. It creates only version when a page is replicated/activated.
Once you replicate the page it will add a version stamp and will allow the user to revert it back to the previous version only if it's available from the timeline rail.
Please see the screenshot below:

Also Please refer the below documents from Adobe regarding page versioning:

https://experienceleague.adobe.com/docs/experience-manager-65/authoring/siteandpage/working-with-page-versions.html?lang=en#reverting-to-a-page-version

Hope this helps!
Thanks!

Hi @tb3dock ,

Understand that page versions are not created manually to restore back to the previous version.

But if you had activated the page, AEM stores that page version default so that you can revert back to the previous version.

Going forward please create a version for backup or configure undo functionality which will provide an option to undo the changes in editor mode

Undo option is not activated OOTB. Go to [1] and check the details to activate it. Once activated, you can undo any changes.
