Request for Feature Enhancement (RFE) Summary:

Moving an asset to a folder where an asset with the same name already exists creates a duplicate asset without asking if duplicate assets are wanted.  It should not be assumed that users want duplicate assets in a folder.  The system should prompt the user to make the same selections upon a move that it does upon an upload.  The options are:  "NAME CONFLICT  An asset named ex.1234567.pdf already exists in this location.  Click Create Version to create the version of the asset or Replace to replace the asset or Keep Both to keep both assets."

Use-case: The use case is duplication of unwanted assets and asset governance.
Current/Experienced Behavior: Moving an asset to a folder where an asset with the same name already exists creates a duplicate asset without asking if duplicate assets are wanted
Improved/Expected Behavior: The system should prompt the user to make the same selections upon a move that it does upon an upload.  The options are:  "NAME CONFLICT  An asset named ex.1234567.pdf already exists in this location.  Click Create Version to create the version of the asset or Replace to replace the asset or Keep Both to keep both assets."

@cjasonjackson This has been accepted. Just for your information, this is already supported in the new Assets UI for Cloud Service. For Touch UI, I am keeping this open - to make behavior more consistent.

That is interesting.  I was directed by support to open this request, on 10.26.2023, as it was not a supported service at that time. My Support Case # is E-001057890, for reference.

Is this update for a certain release?  I have version 2023.10.14029.20231020T111912Z

We would definitely like to take advantage of the available functionality.

Hi there @cjasonjackson have you checked out the new Assets user interface? This functionality is available by default in the new UI

@alext- , I have tried the new UI.  My issue with the new UI is that there is a bug I reported back in November where users cannot create new folders within certain sub-folders.  Adobe directed me to use the old UI.  It is quite frustrating to toggle between UIs to create sub-folders and then toggle back to move them into a folder without creating a duplicate.  If they can fix the issues in both UIs that would be ideal.
