Custom Metadata – AEM by All AEM By Kiran Vedantam

Hello everyone! Hope all of you and your families are safe & sound. Today, I have come up with some interesting topic. Hope you all will like it.

Definition – “Metadata is data that describes other data“. This is very apt for AEM as well.

AEM supports different kinds of assets and metadata talks more about these assets data. To view the metadata of an asset in asset viewer: http://localhost:4502/assets.html

Hover on the asset and click on the properties to view the metadata. Whenever an asset is uploaded into AEM, default metadata is generated and saved.

Use case: Need for metadata which is not out of the box.

There would be some scenarios where extra metadata is needed which is not generated out of the box. Their usage can be seen in – Adobe analytics, reports on the assets views, downloads etc. To achieve this, AEM has provided an option to add custom metadata.

Steps to create custom metadata:

To create custom metadata schema, click on tools –> assets –> metadata schemas
