Content Fragments Mixed-Media : Animated .gif?

What file formats are supported for the mixed media that you can include in a content fragment?

I've placed several animated .gifs onto my content fragment and they're animating in the content fragment editor however when i place this particular content fragment onto a page the .gifs are no longer animating. Is this a limitation of the mixed media feature?

Right now we can only add image assets to CF.

Let me further confirm this with internal team.

When i put the animated .gif file onto the content fragment , it's animating as expected so it's a bit misleading to authors/users that this isn't a supported format

GIF should be inserted as a component and not as CF.

Split the CF in two instances, with appropriate paragraph ranges, and place the animated in between the two instances, with appropriate component.
