Best way to report on asset statistics?

we want to create a report to show breakdown of assets by folder - is there an easy utility? Tried to use the ACS commons reports-> asset but if we have a ton of assets, the asset report breaks - we would love to get a breakdown by folder hopefully with indentation of folder as well

Have you looked at the AEM Assets reports feature which has a Files report. The Files report shows the list of assets used inside a folder.
